MNUE Hosts International Online Seminar on “AI in Education: Opportunity, Experiment, Challenge”

The Mongolian National University of Education hosted an international online seminar titled “AI in Education: Opportunity, Experiment, Challenge” on May 7, 2026, bringing together scholars from Mongolia, Japan, and the Republic of Korea.

The event featured presentations by Assoc. Prof. L. Munkhtuya, Director of the Division of Administration and Human Resources at MNUE; Dr. B. Tumentsetseg, lecturer at the Teachers School; Dr. Ch. Myagmargarmaa, lecturer at the School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences; Assistant Professor Yu Zhu from Nagoya University, Japan; and Dr. Kim Sung-Ho from Sangji University, Republic of Korea.

During the seminar, participants presented and discussed a wide range of timely topics, including the use of AI to reduce the workload of secondary school teachers, improve lesson analysis, support learning through AI-based chatbots, and enhance curriculum planning and implementation in teacher education universities. The speakers also explored the potential application of AI in primary education.

The seminar was moderated by Assoc. Prof. E. Azjargal, Head of the Research and Innovation Office; Assoc. Prof. P. Erdenetuya from the School of Humanities and Social Sciences; and lecturer D. Burmaa. Representatives from MNUE’s graduate programme, academic staff, master’s students, and students majoring in Computer Science Teacher Education also took part in the event. The use of AI-based translation tools during the seminar was noted as a valuable feature that supported international academic exchange.

At the conclusion of the seminar, participating scholars emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation to develop AI competencies among teacher educators, researchers, and students. They also highlighted the potential for conducting joint research on AI in education and expressed interest in organizing the seminar annually.
